Use ARCSeeker with EA - Step by Step

Create a Storage

Firstly, you must create a 'Storage' - repository of components. Run ARCSeeker by double-clicking the icon on Windows Desktop.

Then select 'File' | ' New Storage'.

The 'New Storage' dialog is shown. Enter path to create a Storage and then press the 'Create as New' button.

Now the empty Storage is created.

You need to set an option to use ARCSeeker. Run Enterprise Architect.

Then select 'Add-Ins' | 'ARCSeeker Connector' | 'Options'

In the 'ARCSeeker Connector Options' dialog, set the Storage path to the 'Path to ARCSeeker Storage' editbox, and press OK button.

Create a Component from UML model

To create a component from Enterprise Architect's UML model, follow the below steps.

Firstly, right-click the target package in the Project Browser, and select 'Add-in' | 'ARCSeeker Connector' | 'Register Package as a new Component' menu item.

ARCSeeker automatically export the target package as XMI, and store it as a component. If you already defined Tags for the Storage, you can enter the Tag values here.

Now you can create a component to recyle in future development.

Manage Components

In ARCSeeker window, all components are listed. By double-clicking a component, you can check and update the properties. Components have many properties, relationships to other compornents, files, etc.

You can categorize components by using the 'Group List' tab. You can specify any conbination of properties, or your own tags.

ARCSeeker has powerful search feature to search components.

Import a Component in ARCSeeker Storage

To import a component from the Storage, follow the below steps.

Firstly, right-click the target parent package in the Project Browser, and select 'Add-in' | 'ARCSeeker Connector' | 'Import a Component in Storage' menu item.

Then specify the target compornent in the '' dialog. By pressing OK button, the spcified component is imported into the current project file.
